Simple Green Bean Casserole

  • 3 - 12 oz. frozen french style green beans
  • 2 - 11 oz. can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 8 oz. sliced mushrooms - optional
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 6 oz french fried onions - divided mix and topping

  1. Thaw green beans and drain off excess water. Remove from refrigerator night before, 2 hr room temp prior to making.
  2. If using optional mushrooms cook with butter in large frying pan until they release their moisture and it evaporates, about 6 min.
  3. Stir beans, onions, soup, milk, black pepper, and 1 1/3 cup onions in 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Bake at 350 deg for 30 min. or until hot and stir. Beans may be covered and stored overnight. Reheat covered until bubbling prior to final step.
  5. Top with remaining onions and bake for 10 min more.
  6. Works well to cook earlier in day and reheating prior to serving.

Serves: 12      Total cook time: 30 min.
