Cheesy Baked Gnocchi with Kale

  • 1 or 2 - 16 oz. packages gnocchi
  • 10 oz. kale - washed,stemmed and chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves - minced
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese - Fontina or Gruyere cheese
  • 2 Tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan


  1. Preheat oven to 400 deg. Grease 2-qt baking dish; set aside.
  2. Cook gnocchi according to package directions, add kale for last minute. Drain and add pasta and kale to baking dish.
  3. Meanwhile, in a saucepan cook garlic in butter over medium heat for 1 min. Stir in flour to combine. Whisk in milk, cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Stir in Fontina or Gruyere and lemon zest. Pour over gnocchi mixture in baking dish, stir to coat.
  4. Top with Parmesan. Bake 20 min. until lightly browned and bubbly.


Serves: 6     Total cooking time: 40 min.
